The Checker Aerobus was produced in 6 and 8-door models. The 6-door was only built for 4 years.
They all had station-wagon bodies until the final two years. In 1976 and 1977 they had sedan-style bodies.
The following are the production figures as I know them. I welcome knowledgeable corrections.
First build date was March 1962. From then until February 1964 there were 465 built but I do not know the number of 6-door and 8-door vehicles manufactured during that period. March 1964 - December 1964 there were 465 built (serial numbers 866-1391) but again I have no 6-door and 8-door production numbers. 1965 - There were 253 produced (serial numbers 1392-1645) again no breakdown.on doors.
Year Number of 6-door produced Number of 8-door produced
1966 37 245 1967 39 367 1968 18 278 1969 26 436 1970 0 154 1971 0 131 1972 0 133 1973 0 260 1974 0 154 1975 No Aerobus production this year because Checker did not intend to produce any more 1976 0 60 (sedan body) 1977 0 47 (sedan body)
The sedan body was a failed experiment largely because there was insufficient room for passenger luggage.
There was an Aerobus known as the Convoy configured for prisoner transport but there is no evidence that any Convoys were ordered or shipped.
