This Aerobus has always been in the desert climate. It suffered none of the rusts that many Checkers were prone to. Several years ago, the owner had the body repainted metalic-green and refurbished the seats to match a Southwestern theme. Also, the stock wheels were switched for wider rims and radial tires (the originals are still servicable, but only for thinner, bias-ply tires). Since then the party-mobile, unfortunately, has become too attractive to take on their annual hot springs pilgrimage South-of-the-Border! |
You are looking at the perfect people-hauler. Originally owned by the U.S. Army, the owner believes it was used to transport important officials on one of the bases in the U.S. Southwest. Today it serves us on day-trips with family and friends around beautiful Cochise County, or the occasional parade/special event in the owner's town of Bisbee, Arizona..

This is the original 350 Chevrolet V8 engine that powers this car, along with the Turbohydromatic transmission. Most of the car employs stock GM parts, except for the front suspension which is entirely Checker designed for the Aerobus (tighter turning radius for a longer body). This has been rebuilt and the car rides and handles wonderfully. If you would like to contact the owner for more information or just to leave a comment, please call (520) 432-4345 or email him at: chulo@theriver.com
Hope to hear from ya! Thank you!
